Harvest is now coming to an end. As seen in the picture above, the grapes are all picked and the winter skies are beginning to close in. This week we finished up pressing Vidal and crushing Merlot. We still have a few red verities to press that are still fermenting on skins, and our late harvest Vidal to pick and press- but that will end our harvest season. It’s hard to believe our harvest season is ending- it always goes by so fast.

We still have plenty of juice for sale. Our Italian juice pails have arrived so if you haven’t picked yours up yet they are available. From now to the end of the year we’ll be busy fermenting, racking, filtering and filling our barrels with the 2016 harvest.

We ended with what was a beautiful week with a few days of constant rainfall. None the less, we continued crushing and pressing. In addition to Concord, we also crushed Chambourcin and Cabernet Franc grapes this week at the winery. Additionally, we pressed Catawba and Vidal grapes. If you haven’t stopped by yet to pick up your juice for home winemaking, we still have some available for pickup- call for availability or stop in to inquire. We continue to rack, ferment and filter this year’s harvest. We are also looking forward to selling our wines in PA grocery stores in addition to our own tasting rooms this year with the new changes in liquor laws.

Cab Franc Local Grapes

This week we were busy pressing red wines that were previously crushed and fermenting on skins for extra color and tannin. Additionally, we were pressing Concord grapes this week. Our staff were also racking many tanks off of sediment and preparing our wine making barrels for the red wines to age in. Pictured above is Cab Franc hanging on the vines, which will be picked in about 10 days.

We were also very busy labeling freshly bottled wine, and bottling our Cinnful Kisses.  If you haven’t tried our Cinnful Kisses yet, please stop by our Shops at the Colony location or our Isle House to sample some- it is delicious and will make a great holiday (and any time) dessert wine.

Local Lake Erie Region Grapes

This week we are beginning to crush our red grapes, and still pressing our white. We will be possessing Riesling, Vidal, Concord and Traminette (pictured above) this week.  Additionally we’ll be crushing Blaufrankisch, Cab Franc and Noiret. The weather continues to hold out making working conditions ideal- these conditions are also ideal for the grapes.

We are continuing to take orders for our Italian juice pails coming in at the end of the month- make sure to place your orders before it is too late. We still have Australian and local juice and young wines for sale daily at our winery- online ordering for these are also available.
